Welfare: The New Career Path?
"Ernie" has some thoughts on welfare in America.
"I'm not sure we can talk about welfare without going stark raving mad, but I'll give it a try. In the liberals' quest to redistribute wealth and secure votes at the expense of taxpayers, we find ourselves suffocating under the cost and weight of their socialistic programs. Yes, welfare's come a long way from the days when a father would rather have a son in ballet class than to bear the shame of being on welfare. Course that was before welfare became an "entitlement" instead of a helping hand. So to understand today's welfare, we have to first understand what an entitlement is.
(A) The term basically means to receive something because it's
"due" you for various (social) reasons. For example, because you're
black, hispanic, homosexual, female, asian, a drug addict, uneducated
or just plain stupid. I'm sure you can add to this list so feel free
to share in the fun. The only group not "entitled" is white males.
(B) Entitlements are products of the far left, known as LSD's.
(Liberal Socialist Democrats). They never take into consideration
things such as cost, future costs, how long the program will last, or
how it's to be paid for. That's simple, raise taxes.
(C) They also don't consider the intangibles. Their effects on
families, individual iniative, personal responsibility, crime and/or
social upheaval (i.e., creating class warfare). The civil rights
programs of 1964 almost destroyed the family unit in black
communities. Paying women to have babies so long as they remained
unmarried made perfect sense to the LSD's. It seems ironic that in an
age when we're concerned about caucasians becoming the minority in
25-30 years, we pay blacks and hispanics to have more babies. Only a
liberal could love that one.
(D) They also never consider what it might do to the
infrastructure. Schools, hospitals, law enforcement or other local,
state and federal agencies. Schools becoming war zones, hospitals
going broke because people use emergency room doctors as their personal
physicians, etc..
Welfare is no longer a helping hand, but a career path that's
handed down from generation to generation. Children born into the
system learn from day one that it's up to the government to care for
them all their lives. It's like the 14 year old girl who just had her
first baby and can't wait to go to work for the US Treasury Department,
just like her mama. When told that her mother doesn't work for the
Treasury, she responds, "that's what her paycheck say".
This redistribution of wealth is literally destroying the great
American work ethic, moral values, Christian principles, the sanctity
of marriage and our proud and enviable productivity. Sadly our meek
Republican "leaders" sit on their hands, scared to say or do anything
that might upset the LSD's. After all, the sole purpose of a
politicians life is to gain power for himself and his party.
Questions to ponder. Who's going to fill all those jobs Americans
don't want to do once illegals learn how to cash in on all this
country's entitlement programs? What could we do for the truly
deserving if we weren't paying for the care and upkeep of the nation's
lazy, ignorant and worthless?"
